Most students learn how to behave in elementary school. Teachers spend a great deal of time instructing appropriate rules and expectations. Students learn to raise their hand before speaking; students learn to arrive on time and listen when others are talking. Most students learn to keep their hands to themselves. As students become older, the lessons become more complicated.
Failure to learn these rules has tremendous consequences.
When students move to online environments, the lessons could be more important, because an online conversation could follow a person for the rest of their life.
Common Sense Media posted 7 Rules for Online Etiquette. Please read the list, and write about the seven rules in your own blog post. (Include a link to their post.) For each rule, explain why it is important... or why it is not important. In a complete sentence, write, "It is important to __________ because ___________ ." Do you have any of your own rules?
On Wednesday, we are going to explore some of the other sites listed on Common Sense Media, including the Best Websites. See which sites you can access if you have time.
